Black Hole

Film/Collage/2022 Created by Shaohan

My girlfriend has a tiny scar on her face. It is so small that I can only see a trace of it when Iā€™m very close to her. In her perception, though, the scar is conspicuous and ugly. Although I have told her repeatedly how small it is, she is very anxious about her scar and often fiddles with her bangs to cover it up.

After repeated conversations, I realized that it was not a physical scar but a scar in her core self. During her growth, her parents' criticism of her appearance and verbal violence formed a "black hole" in her heart. This abyss represents the destruction of her self-assurance, self-perception, self-esteem, and self-confidence by her callous parents and weighs her down to this day.

Perhaps there is a "black hole" in all of our hearts. A cell from which we look at ourselves and the outside world.  I hope we can escape it one day
